The first distinctive characteristic of the paintings of Rosilene Luduvico is her coherence of der search and her production. Unresponsive to temporary trends, stereotypes and “novelties” yet with an alert awarness of the contemporary international scene, the artist adheres steadfastly to her own line of conduct. Like one of those monks in classic Chinese painting, she proceeds year after year to deepen and to refine her art without making concessions of any sort. Of course an attentive gaze notices the transformations undertaken along the way, but the evolution shows itself to be a patient acquisition and accumulation of capabilities.
The number of motifs is small: landscapes, particularly trees and forests; sleeping men an dwomen; abstract or almost abstract “scenes”. Under the sign of repetition and variation; but these do not engender tension and opposition—on the contrary, there is variation within the repetition and repetition within the variation. Hence there never arises a sense of déjà-vue; constantly present instead is the freshness of an occurrence—or more precisley, of a haecceity.
